Last Day of Kindergarten

How could this day, May 27th, possibly be the last day of Kindergarten? His school didn't have many days called off this winter and the ones that were called off were made up at Easter break. This year has gone by so quickly. Connor really enjoyed his experience in school and loved his teacher, Mrs. Say. He missed a total of 4 days. Toward the end of the school year, we had some rough moments with an older kid riding the school bus but Connor made it through. Connor finished the school year at 46 1/2 inches and 44lbs. You can see in the picture the excitement this morning when we were talking about it being the last day. 1st Grade here we come on August 31st and he is so ready.

Maleah and Monkey

It's cute checking in on Maleah every night to see what sleeping position she's going to be in. Never before had she snuggled with this monkey. I found it funny that it was sitting right beside her when I checked in on her. She got up at some point and put it in with her or it jumped in by itself with her....

Pet Parade

This morning the Kindergartners had a "Pet Parade" outside their school. Connor asked if Diesel could be part of the parade so I couldn't say no. There were a handful of dogs, cats,and a rabbit. Connor showed off Diesel with pride. The whole parade lasted less than a half hour, but the kids had fun. This is Connor's whole kindergarten class minus a few students.

Mother's Day 2009

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!!! I hope you had a very enjoyable day.


Connor and Maleah woke me up this morning after allowing me to sleep an extra hour after they got up. I woke to a vase of lilacs, 3 cards (1 made at school) and a cup of coffee ready to drink. How nice! Last night we had a nice steak dinner fixed by Brian and this morning we ate pancakes made by Brian and Connor. This afternoon we visited with our Moms. Thanks kids, I had a really nice Mother's Day.

2009 Mother's Day Art

Connor came home today with his 2009 Mother's Day art projects. He said he really spent a lot of time on my picture. I can tell. ;-) These are keepers!!

2009 YMCA Summer Fun

I enrolled Connor in the YMCA Summer Fun program that starts June 8th and ends August 28th. It is for children in grades K-6. He will have a summer full of fun including weekly themed activities, swimming, climbing wall, guest speakers, arts and crafts, and field trips. This program is offered Monday - Friday during my working hours. He is so excited about this, especially learning how to swim. I love that it is next door to my work. Since he will be registered for Friday's, I'll give him the opportunity to stay home with me, or allow him to spend the day having fun with his new friends. That will keep Mom from pulling her hair out. :)

Connor can TIE

When Connor got his report card in January, the only thing he really needed improvement on was tying shoes. I didn't push it, Connor wasn't ready and frankly I wasn't ready to teach him. First off, Brian and I are both left handed and Connor is right handed. To show him properly, I needed to show him a way that did not feel natural to me. We practiced, he would always storm away in frustration so I just gave up. Now that we are nearing the end of Kindergarten, I decided it was time to get serious about learning this. It took us two evenings and it clicked. He got a passing grade and you can see from the bows that he did a nice job. He was proud to show me that he passed his test.
