Feel the Love?

Maleah wants to mother Connor while he's sick. It's cute to see because he usually wants nothing to do with her tender side. I covered him up while he watched some cartoons and she had to be right by his side. She says "Cover me, I sick".

Connor's Sick

It was just a matter of time until one of us got sick. Everyone I talk to has some type of bug - mainly the flu. Connor came to me earlier this afternoon telling me his head was aching. That's never a good sign. I took his temperature and it's 101.8. He's telling me that nothing else but his head hurts.

I feel bad for having to cancel out an hour and half early for something we had planned with Missy and her friend, but we are going to shoot for next Friday.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is a fast moving virus and that we can keep it contained to Connor. It was a good thing that we didn't have weekend plans, Connor has it booked for us.

Maleah feeds her babies

Maleah has really taken to feeding her babies and just being very loving to them. I've posted a few of my favorites as she takes on the Mother Role.

Potty training - Part ll

Potty training has been on the back burner since we came back from Cancun. I lost the desire to keep after her when I came back so I just put it on hold. I decided to get after it again this weekend and she is doing fantastic! She had once small accident at Grandma and Papa Hilton's but quickly stopped herself and finished peeing in the potty. Today she had no accidents at Lori's or here at the house. She pooped in the potty for me yesterday and today. I think we are well on our way to success!!!

Happy Easter!!

What a nice Easter day!!

We woke to these Easter baskets. The kids picked out their own. We told them the Easter bunny would come and fill them with treats and possibly small gifts. Connor and Maleah got the DVD "Bee Movie". Maleah got a babydoll that carries a dog in its purse. Connor got Transformers and Bionicle Legos. They got lots and lots of candy from us and from the grandparents. I think they made out really well. We went to Shirley's for lunch and Donna's for dinner. We had great food at both places! I put Maleah down to sleep shortly after 8pm and she was still making noises at 9pm. I'd say she was a little sugared up.

Have you ever wondered what Maleah would look like with thick hair? Well here it is! She was playing with Makayla's build a bear and I couldn't resist putting this wig on her. Doesn't just look like a doll? For now, we're going to have to be happy with the little pig tail that we can pull up.

Walking With Dinosaurs

In January, we bought tickets to take Connor to see Walking with Dinosaurs in State College. Brian and I have been very excited to see this show as we knew Connor would be excited beyond words. He has been so fascinated by dinosaurs since he was almost 3 years old. We decided to keep the event a secret just for the fact that we didn't want to get his hopes way high and possibly have to cancel due to sickness or bad weather.

Today was the big day, we drove an hour and a half for this show, paid almost $200 for the tickets, used a whole tank of gas and what happens???!!! A half hour into the show Connor completely looses his mind after the 4th dinosaur appeared. His was scared to the point I thought he'd pee his pants. I have never seen him so scared in his life. He kept begging for us to get him out of there. We couldn't get him to settle down so we ended up leaving. It never ever crossed my mind that he would be as scared as he was. This was very disappointing for us, especially after watching You Tube to see what we missed. I thought Connor was mature enough, but I found out differently.

Seeing the excitement in his eyes while sitting on his Dads lap before the show is priceless. I wish this would have been the reaction the whole way through. I think it was just too much for him to take in once the roaring of the dinosaurs started...

Say a Prayer if you will...

Please pray for a coworker that just received some very devastating news this week. She is very emotional and clearly very troubled.

She has confided in our boss and another coworker but for now wishes to keep this situation confidential. We spoke in private today and we hugged and cried together. It really breaks my heart to see her in this state.

For now, she would like my prayers and I'm asking for your prayers for my coworker too. When she is ready and has accepted this news, she will open up and then I'll keep everyone up to date.

Emergency Room visit

If I had to wager, I would have put my money on Connor visiting the emergency room way before Maleah.

I won the "Mother of the Year" award this afternoon. Poor Maleah, she always had some type of boo boo to speak of, today I just about added broken fingers to the list.

I was looking forward to a relaxing evening, Brian took Connor trucking with him for a few hours, so I figured it would be a nice night just doing girly things with Maleah. It couldn't be further from it.

When Maleah and I got home, I took her out of her car seat and put her down to go into the house. I gathered a few things out of the truck and slammed the door. Poor Maleah had her fingers in the front part of the door when I slammed the door shut. She started screaming and I saw her fingers were caught. Oh My God, I thought! It only took a second to open the door, but it seamed like forever. She cried and cried!

I took her straight to the hospital and had them X-Rayed. Luckily nothing was broken. She was a trooper through it all. I was so proud of her as to how well she listened to what she was being told. She had to have around 6 Xrays taken. She has very little swelling from it, you can see indentations on the two fingers on her left hand. She is using her hand as though nothing happened. Maybe I jumped the gun to run her straight to the hospital but it was the piece of mind knowing they are not broken.

While we waited, I caught up with a few of the nurses that I knew out there. Chasity told me that she and Brad are expecting a boy! I'm so happy to hear this news. She and Brad are so excited for a boy this time around!

Back Scratch

Who doesn't love having their back scratched? Maleah LOVES having this done. It's just been recently that she will request me to do this for her. She takes after her Mom. :-) Connor is still too ticklish to do this for him.

Economic Stimulus Package

Did you receive your "Important Message From the IRS on the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008"? What a joke! I can't believe the goverment would spend 42M on these letters informing us of this payment.

What are your plans for this money?? Are you going to go out and blow it on stuff to give the economy a push or will you save it, or pay off debt? Well, in the Smith Household, we will be using it to pay off the remaining debt on Brians truck. I am so excited to be rid of his truck payment.

We are getting closer to letting out that David Ramsey yell "I'm Debt Free!!!" Thank you - the Goverment for sending money our way, even though we choose to use it to become debt free.

Sleeping beauties

Anyone else having a hard time with the time change? I sat down to update my blog and I found these two zonked out on the couch before 8pm.

Daycare activities

If I kept every single craft and activity that Connor did at his daycare, I'd have at least 3 storage bins filled in the short 5 months that he's been there. There are a few that I will probably keep from his daycare days and these are a few.



Connor has really improved his fine motor skills since starting Kids N Us Daycare. This picture shows his improvement. Before going to this new daycare, all he would do was scribble on paper. He had no desire to sit and take the time to color. This picture shows me how much he is maturing in the last few months. So it's a keeper.



This one is just too cute to get rid of. He had a great day getting his feet all painted up. He always tells me he had a great day at daycare, I can understand why!

problem solved

I've been stressing for some time now over how Connor is going to catch the school bus while I continue to work while he goes to school. I have to leave for work at least an hour before the bus picks him up so I just didn't know what the solution was. I had really hoped that I could quit working, but finances won't allow that, just yet.

I talked to Lori and asked her if I could depend on her to get Connor on the bus for me and she is going to take him under her care once again. She will get him on in the morning and I will be home in the afternoon to get him off the bus so everthing is all going to work out. :) I was really stressed that she wouldn't have an opening for him.

I plan to hang up my career of 19 years (can you believe 19 years?) as soon as he is done with Kindergarden in May, sooner if possible. :)
