Report Card

Today Connor brought home his report card and academically he is doing very well. In Reading A-, Math A-, Spelling A and Handwriting S (satisfactory).

His teacher reports that "Connor has such a positive attitude toward his school work. Connor is doing well academically, but is still struggling to stay focused in class." Connor has a wonderful teacher and she is so patient when it comes to Connor's needs. At this point, we continue to hope he becomes more focused throughout the school year as he matures. With the help of his teacher, and our encouragement we will continue on the path that we are taking.

Today we had clear skies and the temperature was around 30 so the whole family went on a hike up to Clear Creek, on the Beartown Rocks Trail. We did 4 miles and everyone enjoyed their time out in the fresh air.

The kids always have a good time just doing their thing with the things they find on their way. As long as they are not too noisy or fall to far behind on the trail, they are encouraged to experience nature on their own.

Maleah was taking a break from walking. First she wanted to lay down on the log then after she realized that wasn't going to work, she decided to throw snow at me.

Eye exam

I went for my routine eye exam and decided it would be convenient to take Maleah along for her first visit. She watched everything that I did intently and when it was her time, she got right up in the chair without a fuss. I didn't know how well she'd do for this visit since she doesn't warm up to strangers but she did wonderful for the eye doctor. To my surprise, she is in need of glasses. The eye doctor says she has eyes identical to mine. She is farsighted. So she was fitting for glasses and will get her glasses within the next week or so, they will call. I've not had Connor's eyes checked as he's always passes his eye exams at the physician's office. He has his first eye exam on Feb. 12th. I don't expect him to need glasses, he said he can see fine, but time will tell. And for the record, my eye sight has not changed but my pressure was up so he wants to check that in one month.

Connor had the day off school for Martin Luther King Day. Most of the day we stayed in our jammies and played Mario Brothers conquering world 7. We enjoyed our day. :)

Wishful Thinking?

It's hard keep clothes on this girl for any period of time. I dress her and any given visit to her bedroom, she changes outfits. I'm not so sure this one would work out side the house. She started off good with the hat, but started dreaming about summer after that... It's a good thing our house is warm!

Brrrrr...

We woke up these morning with the thermometer reading -14. But despite the cold, it's gorgeous outside. I had to go capture the beauty before us.

Back inside where it was nice and warm, we tract the flight of Hilton and Donna on their way to warm and sunny Cancun, Mexico. What a perfect week to be away from this cold weather.

Pull that tooth!!

Connor lost his first tooth in September. The second one has been ready to come out for over a month now. He just doesn't have any desire to pull it. Even a bribe of 5 dollars doesn't encourage him to remove it. His permanent tooth is half way in and this is driving me nuts! Seeing that I work for a dentist, I brought home some numbing gel to make it easier but this still doesn't phase him to take it out. I gave him until his birthday, then his dentist is taking it out. ;-)

Fort

With all the toys the kids got for Christmas, today they seemed to have no idea how to occupy themselves. Creativity came into play and they loved it!!

Happy New Year!!!

One of my favorite things to do on New Year's Day is to go to Brian's Moms house and have her sour kraut and dumplings!! Yum, yum. Last year we didn't get to go down for this traditional meal because she had an outbreak of the Shingles so we missed out on her good cooking. Brian took a hike with one of his buddies early this morning so he showed up right as we were finishing up the meal. Luckily, Shirley had plenty left over. Our belly was full and very satisfied.
